Awa Kainan Cultural Center
The Awa Kainan Cultural Center is a hub of education and regional cultural experiences. Made up of six sections - Kaiyo Katana Museum, the Crafting Hall, the Iki-Iki Lounge, the Sekibune portable shrine exhibition hall, and the Kainan Culture and Event Hall - the Cultural Center is a multipurpose facility that makes learning about and experiencing local culture both easy and accessible.
With many interactive experiences and exhibits, the Cultural Center has much to offer for visitors of all ages. Paired with a Tokushima-style somen noodle lunch, it is an easy place to spend the morning or afternoon immersed in regional culture. Take a look at what there is to do!
Museum: Kaifu katana exhibits, locally-excavated ancient coins, replica model of Ozato Kofun ancient burial mound, samurai dress-up, and VR tour
Crafting Hall (reservations required*): aizome indigo dyeing, woodwork, bamboo crafts, painting experiences, and ceramics
Sekibune Exhibition Hall: portable boat-shaped shrine display and history
Kainan Culture & Event Hall: performance hall for large-scale education, cultural, and artistic events
Iki-Iki Lounge: rest and socialization area near DMV boarding point
