地域から世界へ、生徒たちのグローカルな取り組み
令和5年度から、海陽町教育委員会グローバルチームは町内の中学校と協力し、総合学習において選択できる「グローカル」という新しいコースを提供しいます。
Starting in the R5 (2023-2024) school year, the Kaiyo Board of Education’s Global team began collaborating with the town’s junior high schools to offer a new elective course called “Glocal Studies,” which students can select as their multidisciplinary track.
このコースでは、生徒たち多様なプロジェクトに取り組み、世界における海陽町の位置、そしてグローバル(世界)問題に対してローカル(地域)から行動できる方法を学んでいます。これは「グローカル」というコース名の由来です。生徒たちはICTと英語を使って、国際的な内容を学び、自分たちの町を様々な方法で世界と繋げることを学びます。
In the course, students work on a variety of projects to learn about Kaiyo, its place in the world, and how to take local action on wide-reaching issues. Essentially, how the local and the global intersect, hence the course name “Glocal.” They have been using technology and English as tools to reach these goals, rounding out the international experience and encouraging them to connect their town to the world in different, dynamic ways.
1学期は、グローバル的な視点で海陽町について考える方法を学びました。海陽町の特色は何か、海陽町と世界との繋がりをさらに発展させるために、地元でどのような行動が取れるかについて、一緒にアイデアを出し合いました。
In the first term, students learned about how to think about Kaiyo in a global context. Together, they brainstormed ideas about what makes Kaiyo unique and what local actions they could take to use and further grow Kaiyo’s connections with the world around them.
一つのプロジェクトでは、海陽中学校と宍喰中学校の生徒がそれぞれの地区と学校を紹介するブログを書きました。(下記のURLで見られます)
In one project, students from both Kaiyo and Shishikui Junior High Schools wrote blogs introducing their part of town and their schools. Check them out here:
その他にも、宍喰中学校の生徒たちは芸術活動を通して地元を表現するプロジェクトに取り組みました。インドネシア式の影絵作品の制作やパフォーマンスをしているアーティストより、影絵とその文化そして彼自身の国際的な影絵経験について紹介を受けた後、生徒たちは自分たちの影絵作品制作に取り組みました。作品はその後、海陽町立博物館にて、9月まで展示されていました。
Students in the course at Shishikui Junior High School also represented their local area through art. A guest speaker, who creates and performs with Indonesian-style shadow puppets, introduced this art and its culture, as well as his international experiences with it, before the students worked on making their own. The puppets have since been set up in the local museum by the puppeteer, and were on display until September.
他にも、海陽町の人々やコミュニティに触れ合うプロジェクトにも取り組みました。
The students also got involved in projects relating to the people and the community of Kaiyo.
地元のNPO法人「あったかいよう」のメンバーより、海陽町に住む外国人の置かれている状況や、どのように外国人が海陽町での生活に慣れるよう支援しているかについて紹介を受けました。外国人が海陽町に来る理由、ここで生活する上で直面する文化や言語の壁、そして地域の外国人をサポートするために「あったかいよう」がどのような活動をしているかを紹介してもらいました。
Guest speakers from the local NPO, Attakaiyo, gave a talk to the students about the situation of foreigners living in Kaiyo and how Attakaiyo helps them adjust to life here. The speakers introduced some of the reasons why foreigners come to town, the cultural and language barriers that they face living here, and what Attakaiyo does to support the foreign community.
また、海洋自然博物館マリンジャムを訪れ、海陽町の観光について学びました。外国人観光客の立場になり、ブルーマリン号やシーカヤックなどの人気アトラクションを体験しました。
The students also got to visit Marine Jam, the local aquatic life research and recreation center, where they learned about tourism to Kaiyo. They got to put themselves in the shoes of foreign tourists and try some popular attractions, such as taking part in a Blue Marine boat tour and sea kayaking.
1学期の終わりに、海陽中学校と生徒たちは町内に住んでいるアメリカ、ロシア、ベトナムからのゲストに多言語インタビューを行いました。海陽町に住む様々な人々についての理解を深めるため、ゲストへの質問を準備しました。それに加え、ゲストに楽しんでもらえるよう、海陽町に関するたくさんの豆知識を含んだクイズを作成しました。生徒たちにとって、いつもの先生ではない外国人と英語のやりとりは良い経験で、宍喰中学校の生徒たちが2学期にこのプロジェクトに取り組むのを楽しみにしています。
At the end of the first term, the Kaiyo Junior High School students conducted a multilingual interview with guests from America, Russia, and Vietnam who are currently living in Kaiyo. To learn more about the variety of people who call Kaiyo home, the students prepared questions for the visitors. They also made a fun quiz with lots of facts about Kaiyo. It was a good experience for the students to practice their English with foreigners who aren’t their teachers, and we are looking forward to when Shishikui Junior High School will get to do this project next term.
このコースは、ほぼすべて英語で実施されていましたが、生徒たちはとてもよく対応してくれました！グローバルチームのメンバーは、生徒たちが世界における海陽町を探求し続けるうえで、今後の様々な新しいプロジェクトに取り組むことを楽しみにしています。
The course has been run almost entirely in English, with the exception of some guest speakers, and the students have met the challenge very well! Us members of the Global Team are looking forward to working on many new projects planned for the coming term as the students continue to explore Kaiyo’s place in the world.
