I tried sea kayaking! |「海陽でやってみた！」シーカヤック体験編
Hello! It’s May here today! I’m an English teacher as part of the Global Team and I’ve lived in Kaiyo for 6 years now.

Last week, I went to Marine Jam and tried sea kayaking. I’ve done it before, but the weather this time was a beautiful, perfect summer day - and not too hot because there was a nice breeze.
先週、シーカヤックをやってみるために、海洋自然博物館「マリンジャム」に行きました。カヤックをしたことがありましたが、今回の天気は素晴らしかったですよ。いい風が吹いていたので、暑すぎなくて、完璧な夏の一日でした。
When we got to Marine Jam, Ms. Kimura got us set up with life jackets and gave a great English explanation of how to use the kayak paddles and navigate in the water. She’s really working hard to help foreign guests feel welcome!
その日のカヤックガイド（甲板員の木村さん）は、ライフジャケットの着方やパドルの使い方を教えてくれました。彼女は、海外からのお客さんにとって歓迎されていると感じるほど、一所懸命教えてくれました！
We got into the water around 11:00 am and kayaked for about an hour. Normally, the course takes you around Takegashima, but this time we just went under the bridge and explored the bay.
11時ごろに出発して、1時間ぐらいシーカヤックをしました。通常、シーカヤックのコースは2時間かかって、竹ヶ島周辺に行きますが、今回は橋の下と竹ヶ島港の近くを行きました。
A typhoon was coming so the ocean waves were a little high and we couldn’t go very far, but the bay was calm and it was easy to move around.
台風が来ていましたので、波が過ごし高かったからです。しかし、港の辺はほとんど静かで、カヤックに乗っていても動きやすかったです。

After we finished kayaking, we got to swim in the ocean a little. It felt so good in the summer heat! We also took some time and looked at the fish in the Marine Jam aquarium. I love the giant tropical rock lobster and all its colors!
カヤックをした後で、残り時間で少し泳ぎました。夏の暑さにはすーごい気持ちよかったですよ。それに、水族館の生き物にも会いました。ニシキエビの素晴らしい体の色が大好き！
