オンラインツアーでオーストラリアに行ってみた！

On February 23rd, we held an online tour event in the hall at the Awa Kainan Culture Center! The tour was live streamed from Australia, featuring a koala experience and a short walking tour of the streets of Melbourne. I haven’t been to Melbourne before, so I was interested in seeing what it was like, too!
2月23日に阿波海南文化村のホールでオンラインツアーイベントを開催したよ！オーストラリアからライブ配信されて、コアラやメルボルン市内の街並みが登場したよ！僕もメルボルンには行ったことがなかったので、どんなところなのか興味があったんだ。
The livestream began at 10 AM, but we started at 9:30 to talk to the audience about Australia and get their impressions. It seems that most people would think of the Opera house and Koalas upon hearing Australia.
ツアー配信は午前10時開始だったけど、参加者の皆さんとオーストラリアについて話したいと思って、9時半に会場に集まってもらったよ。配信が始まるまでの間は、オーストラリアの印象などについて話したけど、やっぱりみなさんの中ではオーストラリアと言ったらコアラやオペラハウスという印象が強いね。
It’s often hard to have a real experience with online tours, so I decided to quiz the audience with some iconic Australian sounds, like a Kookaburra laugh and traffic light crossing sounds. I also brought along a jar of Vegemite for the audience to enjoy the smell of.
こういったオンラインツアーでは実際に体験することが難しいので、それを補うために「オーストラリアの代表的な音」のクイズを出してみたよ。どんなものかというと、オーストラリアのワライカワセミの鳴き声や信号機の音などを聞いてもらったよ。また、オーストラリアの代表的な食べ物、「ベジマイト」を参加者の皆さんに匂いを味わってもらったよ！
The tour eventually started with our first guide taking us around the Cairns Wildlife Dome’s koala habitat. In my mind, Koala’s aren’t really super active animals, so I was a little worried the koalas would just be asleep throughout the entire livestream. Luckily, they were awake and we saw some cute koalas move about. The keeper also gave us a quiz in English and we got to learn some interesting facts about koalas, like how a koala’s baby is only around 1.5cm long when born.
10時になって、いよいよツアーが始まり、最初はケアンズのワイルドライフドームのコアラを見たよ。自分の中では、コアラはあまり動くようなイメージがないので、配信の間ずっと寝ているのではと心配だったよ。幸いなことに、コアラたちが起きていて、動いているコアラの可愛い姿が見られたよ！また、コアラの飼育員が英語でクイズを出してくれて、コアラが生まれた時の大きさが1.5センチくらいしかないことなど、コアラについておもしろい事を知ることができたよ！
After that, we moved over to Melbourne, where our second guide showed us the wall art hidden in the city’s alleyways. Our guide also gave us a glimpse of the Victorian architecture and the astounding number of cafes in Melbourne. In one particular alleyway, I think I saw about 20 cafes lined up one after the other. Apparently, there are over 2,000 cafes in Melbourne. I definitely didn’t know coffee was that popular over there!
そのあとはメルボルン市内に移動し、ウォールアートやビクトリア調の建物、メルボルン市内には驚くほどたくさんのカフェがあることも紹介されたよ。ある路地では、20軒ほどのカフェが次々と並んでいたことにびっくりした！メルボルンでは2,000件以上のカフェがあるけど、コーヒーがあんなに人気だとは知らなかったね。
Overall, the event went smoothly overall and the audience seemed to enjoy it very much! I wonder where we’ll go when we do another tour?
全体として、イベントはスムーズに進み、参加者もとても楽しんでいるようだったよ！次のツアーではどこに行けるかな？
