こんにちは、トニーだよ！
On the 21st of March, we held a Global Lab event for graduating junior high school students! In this event we took the students to Tokushima city, where they participated in an international workshop, and enjoyed some foreign food!
3月21日、中学卒業生を中心にしたグローバル・ラボを開催したよ！今回のイベントでは、徳島市へ行き、国際ワークショップに参加して、外国料理やイオンモールを楽しんだりしたよ！
The event began in the morning and the students gathered at their respective schools where they got on a bus.
朝、生徒たちにはそれぞれの学校に集合してもらい、そこからバスに乗って出発！
On the way to the city, we stopped at the Hiwasa roadside station for a quick 10-minute break, introductions and explanation of what we had in store for the students for the day. After our short break, we continued making our way to Tokushima city, eventually getting there just a little after 10AM.
途中で日和佐の道の駅で10分ほどの休憩をとり、自己紹介や今日の予定などを説明してからまた徳島市に向かい、午前10時過ぎに到着したよ。
After arriving, we made our way to the TOPIA (Tokushima Prefectural International Exchange Association) office, which is located on the 6th floor of the Tokushima station building.
到着後、徳島駅ビル6階にあるTOPIA（とくしま国際戦略センター）に移動したよ。
Here, TOPIA gave the students a presentation about the foreigners living in Tokushima prefecture, their nationalities and the industries they work in. We also talked about how we can coexist with people from other countries, like using simple Japanese!
ここでは、TOPIAの人から徳島県に住む外国人についてのプレゼンテーションが行われたよ。徳島に滞在している外国人は主にどの国から来たのか、その理由とどのような産業で働いているのかなどを勉強したよ！また、簡単な日本語を使うなど、外国人と共存するためにはどうしたらいいのか、ディスカッションをしたよ！
TOPIA also had two student guests hailing from China and Vietnam come in and chat with us! We got to learn some interesting things from them as well, like their background, aspirations and their reasons for coming to Tokushima.
また、プレゼンテーションの最後には、中国とベトナムから2人の学生ゲストに来てもらい、徳島に来た理由や将来やりたいことなど、興味深い話を聞くことができたよ！
We also prepared a short workshop about foreigners living in Kaiyo! Did you know that Kaiyo has a very high proportion of foreign residents living here, compared to Tokushima prefecture as a whole? 2.56% of Kaiyo’s population consists of foreigners, whereas its 0.70% for the prefecture entirely!
TOPIAのプレゼンテーションに加えて、私たちも海陽町に住む外国人についての簡単なワークショップも用意したよ！実は海陽町は、徳島県全体と比べて外国人居住者の割合が非常に高いことをみんな知ってる？海陽町の人口に占める外国人の割合は2.56％で、徳島県全体では0.7％なので、かなり高いことがわかるよね。
It was lunch time when we finished the workshop, so we made our way to a nearby restaurant to enjoy some delicious Vietnamese food. We don’t have any Vietnamese restaurants in Kaiyo, so it was a first for the students and definitely different from what they’re used to.
ワークショップが終わったのはお昼時だったので、近くのレストランで美味しいベトナム料理を食べに行ったよ！海陽町にはベトナム料理のお店がないので、生徒たちにとってはきっといつもとは違う味だったでしょう。
For the final part of the event, we headed to AEON mall, where the students were able to enjoy free time at the mall with each other. We eventually got back to Kaiyo at around 5:30PM, bringing our event to a close.
イベントの最後はイオンモールに向かい、生徒同士でイオンモールでの自由時間を楽しんだよ。そして17時30分頃に海陽町に戻り、イベントは終了したよ。
The students got to experience new things throughout the day, and I think they were very surprised at some of the demographics and information they were presented with! Overall, the event went smoothly, so hopefully we can do an event like this again!
生徒たちは一日を通して色々な新しいことを体験することができたし、紹介された人口統計や情報に驚いていたよ！全体として、イベントはスムーズに進んだので、またこのようなイベントができたらいいよね！
