～グローバル・ラボ～ ゲーム大会を開催したよ！
Hello everyone, I’m Sarah, a long time ALT here in Kaiyo. I teach at Kaiyo Junior High School & Kainan Elementary School.
皆さん、初めましてサラです。海陽町で長く英語の先生(ALT)をやっています。海陽中学校と海南小学校で教えています。
On January 21st 2023 we had our first Global Lab event of the year! This time, we held a video game tournament for junior high school students. Located in the English Room of the Kaifu Community Center, the tournament featured two games, a popular fighting game and a popular racing game.
1月21日、今年最初のグローバル・ラボを開催しました！今回、中学生を対象としたビデオゲーム大会でした。海部公民館の英語室で行われた大会では人気の対戦アクションゲームと人気のアクションレースゲームの2つが行われました。
As students arrived, they were given a chance to warm-up and practice. It was so fun to see the personalized controllers and gaming accessories of all our students. It was easy to tell that each student had a unique play style and a love for gaming.
生徒たちは到着すると、ウォーミングアップや練習の機会を与えられました。生徒みんなの自分のコントローラーやゲームのアクセサリーを見るのはとても面白かったですよ。生徒にはそれぞれ独自のプレイスタイルやゲームの鑑賞もあるのがよくわかりました。
Gaming is truly a bridge between cultures. I can confidently say that students in America love games just as much as the students here in Kaiyo. I had a great time talking to students about their strategies and ideas about gaming.
ゲームは本当に、文化の架け橋ですよね。アメリカの生徒も、海陽町の生徒と同じようにゲームが好きだと自信を持って言えます。ゲームに関する戦略と考え方について、生徒たちと話し合うことができ、とても楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。
Soon it was time for the tournament brackets to begin, starting with the fighting game. Students excitedly chose their characters and the 1v1 battles began. Some students practiced for their turn on other consoles while some supported and cheered for their friends. The students had great sportsmanship and there were no sore winners or losers. I heard many students say “good game” after each match.
すぐに大会のトーナメント戦を始める時間が来て、最初は対戦ゲームでした。ワクワクしてキャラクターを選んだ後で、「1対1のバトル」が始まりました！自分のバトル前に練習している子も、友達を応援している生徒もいました。勝者も敗者も傷ついた人はいなかったし、みんなとてもいいスポーツマンシップをもっていました。バトルの後で、たくさんの生徒たちは「good game!」と言っているのを聞きました。
Next it was time to race!! Students were split into groups of three and had to compete on 4 different race tracks. It was exciting to see the ranks change in just a blink. The students were extremely well matched in both skill and luck.
次はレースの時間！！3人グループに分かれて、違う4つトラックで争いました。レース中のランキングが突然変わっていくのを見るのはとてもハラハラしました！生徒たちは、運とスキルの両方の面でもとても上手でした！
In the end only 4 students could win the coveted top prize Amiibos, but everyone left happy and ready to play again in the future.
最後にたった4人だけが最優秀賞をとりましたが、みんな喜んで帰っていって、次の大会を楽しみにしていました。
The English Room in the Kaifu Community Center is open every Thursday for the POP English Lounge where we can casually play games and use English naturally. Keep training and let’s play games again soon!
海部公民館のEnglish Roomでは、毎週木曜日4時半から6時半まで「POP English Lounge」を開催しています。自由にゲームすることができたり、自然的に英語を使ったりできますよ！これからも練習を続けて、また近いうちにゲームしましょうね！
